About MBA of Northwest IN

What is MBA?

MBA of Northwest IN, Inc. is a 501©3 organization, formerly known as the Michigan City Black Business Association MCBBA.
Over 20 years ago, the MCBBA was formed to respond to the growing disparities between black business owners and non-black business owners.
MCBBA provided a voice for the invisible, overlooked, and undervalued Black Business Community. There were over 20 business memberships, ranging from family daycares, automobile dealerships, skin and health care, real estate, food and hospitality industries, and non-profit organizations. The main objective of MCBBA was to be the collective bargaining unit voice to the decision-makers of the City of Michigan City. This organization was disbanded.
In 2022 the vision of MCBBA was reestablished by visionaries Denice Shipp-Glenn and Sandra Hudson. The organization was founded based on the initial principles of MCBBA, and due to a need still not being met.
Realizing the need for expansion of the established principles, within the year of 2023 MBA, The Melanated Business Association of Northwest IN, Inc., was founded by Social Entrepreneur Denice Shipp-Glenn as a diverse, equitable and inclusive organization. Welcoming all people of color and extending reach to other communities that are in Northwest Indiana.
